[Description] Shrub 1.5-5 m tall, bark greyish-brown or yellowish-brown; branchlets terrete, yellowish-brown; older branches greyish-brown, glabrous. Leaves alternate, coriaceous, elliptic or ovate-elliptic, 3-5.5 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, apices acuminate, bases cuneate, both surfaces equally glabrous, only the midvein pubescent, lateral and reticulating veins equally obscure on both surfaces, upper 13 to 1/2 of margins serrulate; petioles pubescent, 3-6 mm long, Flowers usually solitary, terminal or axillary, budovate, before opening reddish-purple, after opening becoming red or pink, sessile orsubsessile; bracts and sepals 7-8, rotundate，green, deciduous; petals usually 5, narrowly obovate-elliptic, 15-20 mm long, 5-10 mm wide, apices emarginate; filamentslight-red, basally adnate with petals; stamens many, arranged in several series, anthers yellow; ovaries subglobose, 3-locular, greyish-white pubescent; pedicels 3 mm long, stigma shallowly 3-parted. Capsules small, suborbicular, 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter, pericarp thin; seeds 1-2 per locule, rarely three, blackish-brown. Flowering and fruitingperiod October to December.

灌木高 1.5-5 m，树皮灰褐色或黄褐色;小枝直生，黄褐色;较老的枝条灰褐色，无毛。叶互生，皮质，椭圆形或卵形椭圆形，长3-5.5厘米，宽1.5-2.5厘米，顶端渐尖，基部楔形，两面同样无毛，只有中脉短柔毛，侧脉和网状脉在两个表面同样模糊，边缘上部13至1/2锯齿状;叶柄被短柔毛，长 3-6 毫米，花通常单生，顶生或腋生，卵形，开花前红紫色，开花后变为红色或粉红色，无柄或无柄;苞片和萼片7-8，圆形，绿色，落叶;花瓣通常 5 片，窄倒卵形椭圆形，长 15-20 毫米，宽 5-10 毫米，顶端边缘;花丝微红色，基部附花，有花瓣;雄蕊多，排列成几个系列，花药黄色;子房近球形，3房，灰白色短柔毛;花梗长 3 毫米，柱头浅 3 部分。蒴果小，近圆形，直径 1.5-2.5 厘米，果皮薄;种子每轮 1-2 粒，很少 3 粒，黑褐色。花果期 10 月至 12 月。
