Camellia montana (Blanco) Hung T.Chang & S.X.Ren in Acta Sci. Nat. Univ. Sunyatseni 30(1): 68 (1991).Type: ——BS 34071 Ramos & Edaño (K, neo; BM, P. US, isoneo), Luzon: Bulacan, Angat, Feb-1919. Specimen:Luzon: A.D.E.Elmer 8349, 8995, 14282, 17663; Benguet, M. Luzon, R.S. Williams 1016, 1037,; Rigal Province, Bosobosa, Philippine Herb. No. 841.

This species was reduced by F.-Vullar as Camellia lanceolata (Bl.) Seem. Accorded to E. D. Merril’s citation: It is very closely related to Calpandria lanceolata Blume, if not identical with it . J.R.Sealy followed the previous identification, and reduced it to Camellia lanceolata. By the character of the specimen cited above, the stamens 5-6 mm long, filaments free, styles 3 mm in length, it shows not related to the Section Calpandria, but belongs to Paracamellia. The typical characters of the species are as following: Young branchlets pilose, leaves oblong 6-9 cm long2-3.5 cm broad, both ends obtuse or subround, flowers shortly stalk, petioles 2-4 mm long, petals 6-7.1 cm long, stamens 5- 6 mm long free, styles 3 mm long. This species is a shrub or small tree, 2 to 6 m high with white flowers. It is widely distributed on the mountains of the Philippines at medium and higher altitudes.

短柱山茶 (中山大学学报) Camellia montana (Blanco) Hung T.Chang & S.X.Ren, 首次发表于中山大学学报(自然科学版)30(1):67-71 (1991).

该种被F.-Vullar降为Camellia lanceolata (Bl.) Seem。根据E. D. Merril的引文:“它与Calpandria lanceolaia Blume即使不完全相同,也是非常接近的亲缘关系。”J.R.Sealy沿用前文的鉴定,将其降为Camellia lanceolata。根据上述标本的性状,雄蕊长5-6毫米,花丝离生,花柱长3毫米,表明它与Calpandria组无亲缘关系,而属于类山茶属的短柱茶组(Paracamellia)。本种的典型性状为:幼枝被柔毛,叶长圆形,长6-9厘米,宽2-3.5厘米,两端钝或近圆形,花有短柄,叶柄长2-4毫米,花瓣长6-7.1厘米,雄蕊5-6毫米离生,花柱长3毫米。
