Leaves broadly elliptic, 3.5-5 cm long, 2.5-3 cm wide, apices obtuse or nearly rounded, bases broadly cuneate or slightly rounded; dark green above, midveins puberulent; yellowish-brown below, glabrous; lateral veins 6 pairs, margins serrulate; petioles 3-4mm long, pubescent. Flowers usually 2, terminal, white, sessile; bracts and sepals 10, crescent shaped to obovate, 2-8 mm long, glabrous, margins with long cilia; petals 7(5), obovate, 1-1.2 cm long, 7-9 mm wide, apices rounded, glabrous, basally nearly free; stamens 1 cm long, in 2 series, outer whorl connate for the basal 1/5, glabrous, innerwhorl relatively fewer stamens, completely free; ovaries hirsute; styles 3-parted, 7-8mm long glabrous. Capsules globose, 1.5-2 cm in diameter, 3-locular or i-locular, 1seed per locule, 3-valvate dehiscent; pericarp thin, less than 1 mm thick; bracts andsepals not persistent.

Flowers are white, musk fragrance, 2.0-3.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots and in leaf axils; bud set sometimes abundant. Perules 10, deciduous at flowering, hair on margin only. Petals 5-7, 1.0-1.5 cm long, 0.7-1.0 cm wide, obovate, apex rounded, glabrous, nearly free at the base. Androecium glabrous, about 1 cm long, the outer layer of stamens fused 3-4 mm at the base into a cup. Gynoecium about 1.0-1.2 cm long, 3 glabrous styles, free, not fused at the base, ovary hirsute. Blooming season: early to late autumn. Capsules variably ovoid in shape, 1.9-2.4 cm long, 1.7-2.3 cm wide, surface densely villous, 3 locules, wall 1-2 mm thick. Leaves elliptic to mostly obovate in shape, tip acute to obtuse and shortly acuminate, base cuneate to mostly rounded, 3.3-7.2 cm long, 2.3-4.4 cm wide, margin serrulate, upper surface smooth, midrib puberulent, lower surface smooth, midrib and blade mostly glabrous, but occasionally sparsely villous. Petiole 4-7 mm long, upper side puberulent, lower side usually glabrous, occasionally sparsely villous. Shrub or small tree up to 4 m tall, young shoots sparsely or strongly villous, becoming glabrescent with age, twig color brown, older branches smooth and cinnamon-colored. Distribution: Lichuan County in Jiangxi Province, Ruyuan County in Guangdong Province, Longquan City in Zhejiang Province and in Fujian Province; Elevation: 200-800 m; Specific locality: The Camellia Plot, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China.

Sunyatsen) 252 ；无地址，浙江Chekiang：龙泉，章绍尧6939。江西Kiangsi：黎川，房坪，王名金2247，1957年10月；广昌，尖峰山，胡启明5322。广东Kwangtung：乳源，梯下山，黄志42446；同地，高锡朋53396。【形态特征】灌木或小乔木，高4米，嫩枝有粗毛，老枝秃净。叶阔椭圆形，长3.5-5厘米，宽2.5-3厘米，先端钝或近于圆，基部阔楔形或略圆，上面深绿色，发亮，中脉有短毛，下面黄褐色，无毛。侧脉约6对，边缘有细锯齿，叶柄长3-4毫米，有柔毛。花常2朵顶生，白色，无柄；苞片及萼片10片，从半月形至倒卵形，长2-8 毫米，无毛，边缘有长睫毛。花瓣7(5)片，倒卵形，长1-1.2厘米，宽7-9毫米，先端圆，背无毛，基部近于离生。雄蕊长1厘米，2轮，外轮基部1/3相连生，无毛，内轮较少数，完全离生。子房有长粗毛，花柱3条，长7-8毫米，无毛。蒴果圆球形，直径1.5-2厘米，3室或1室，没室种子1粒，3片裂开，果片薄，厚不到1毫米，无宿存苞片或萼片。

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第191页。花白色，有麝香味的芳香，直径2.0~3.0厘米，顶生和腋生，花芽有时很多。鱗片10枚，随花朵开放而脱落，仅边缘有毛。花瓣5~7枚，长1.0~1.5厘米，宽0.7~1.0厘米，倒卵形，先端园，无毛，基部近离生。雄蕊无毛，长约1厘米，外轮花丝基部连生形成3~ 4毫米长短管。雌蕊长1.0~1.2厘米，花柱3个，无毛，离生，子房被硬毛。花期秋初到晚秋。蒴果为不规则的卵球形，长1.9~2.4厘米，直径1.7~2.3厘米，表面密被长柔毛，3室，果皮厚1~2毫米。叶椭圆形至倒卵形，先端急尖至短尖，基部楔形至圆形，长3.3~7.2厘米，宽2.3~ 4.4厘米，边缘具齿，叶面光滑，中脉被微柔毛，叶背光滑，中脉无毛或偶见稀疏长柔毛。叶柄长4 ~7毫 米，上面被短柔毛，下面通 常无毛，偶见稀疏长柔毛。灌木或小乔木，高可达4米，嫩枝被稀疏长柔毛或粗毛，而后变秃净，枝条褐色，老枝光滑，黄褐色。分布：江西省黎川县、广东省乳源县、浙 江省以及福建省，海拔200-800米。现在浙江省杭州植物园山茶区有栽培。
