Flowers are white, slightly fragrant, about 2.5 cm in diameter, borne in multiples at the tips of shoots and in leaf axils: bud set usually abundant. Bracts and Sepals persistent, 4 bracts and 5 sepals, glabrous with ciliate hair on the edges. Petals about 5,1.7 cm long, 1.3 cm wide, obcordate, cleft at the tip up to 2 mm, fused from the base with the staminal column up to 4 mm. Androecium 1.1 cm in length, filaments pubescent, outer layer of stamens fused from the base into a cup 4 mm long, approximately 25 stamens. Gynoecium 1.5 cm long, 3 glabrous styles, fused except at the tip, ovary glabrous. Blooming season: winter and spring. Capsules ovoid to globose with a beak at the point of style attachment, 1.4-1.6 cm long, 1.1-1.3 cm in diameter, glabrous. Leaves elliptic, tip long acuminate, base cuneate, 1.6-5.7 cm long, 0.8-2.1 cm wide, margin serrulate, thinly coriaceous, upper surface smooth with midvein slightly raised, puberulent midrib, lower surface smooth with mid vein slightly raised, midvein and blade lightly villous. Petiole 1-4 mm long, puberulent. Shrub or small tree up to 7 m tall, young shoots densely pubescent, older branches smooth and rust-gray in color. 高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第253页。花白色，略芳香，花径约2.5厘米，多花腋生或顶生，花芽稠密。苞片和萼片宿存，苞片4枚，萼片5枚，无毛，边缘具纤毛。花瓣约5枚，长1.7厘米，宽1.3厘米，倒心形，先端有2毫米缺口，基部与雄蕊柱连生4毫米。雄蕊长1.1厘米，花丝被柔毛，外轮花丝基部连生，形成4毫米长短管。雌蕊长1.5厘米，花柱无毛，先端3裂，子房无毛。花期冬季至春季。蒴果卵球形至球形，先端有喙，长1.4-1.6厘米，长1.4~1.6厘米，直径厘米，无毛。叶椭圆形，先端长渐尖，基部楔形，长1.6~5.7厘米, 宽0.8~2.1厘米，边缘具齿，薄革质，叶面光滑，中脉略凸起，被疏短柔毛，叶背光滑，中脉略凸起，略被长柔毛。叶柄长1~4毫米，被微毛。灌木或小乔木，高可达7米，嫩枝密被柔毛，老枝光滑，锈灰色。分布：中国台湾省中部的能高山、恒舂等地，海拔 500-1400米。可寻地点:中国台湾省能高山。
