Junzi

Junzi (C. japonica). China Regn. #2020-318. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2020, No.12, p.59. This cultivar was bred by Zhou Li and others in Nanshan Botanical Garden in Chongqing City. It was selected in 2010 by crossing the seedlings of ‘Zhaojun Chusai’ as the female parent and ‘Xizi Xianghe’ as the male parent. The first flower in March 2019. The plants are compact, with dense foliage and vigorous growth. The flower is light red, completely double-petaled, with a diameter of 9-10 cm; petals are oval, 75-80, and the edges are slightly reversed. The veins of the petals are obvious. After blooming, the inner petals become lighter; sometimes neatly arranged Spiral flowers appear, with medium amount of flowers, green calyx with white hairs, 5, flowering period from February to April. The leaves are green, shiny, and thick; the leaf surface is flat; the tip is tapered and the base is wedge-shaped; the teeth are thinner, deep and pointed; the leaf length is 9-10cm, width 4.5-5cm.

君子 Camellia  japonica 'Junzi' 中国茶花登录号：2020-318。《中国花卉园艺》2020年第12期59页。本品种由重庆市南山植物园周利等培育，是2010年以川山茶‘昭君出塞’为母本，与‘西子香荷’为父本杂交播种苗选育获得，2019年3月首次开花。植株紧凑，枝叶茂密，生长旺盛。花浅红色，完全重瓣型，花径9~10 cm；花瓣椭圆形，75~80枚，边缘略向后反卷，瓣脉明显，盛开后内层花瓣颜色变浅；偶有排列整齐的螺旋状花朵出现，花量中等，花萼绿色被白色绒毛，5枚，花期2~4月。叶绿色、光泽、厚实；叶面平展；先端渐尖，基部楔形；叶齿较稀，深而尖；叶长9~10cm，宽4.5~5cm。
