Berlèse, 1837, Monographie, ed.1, p.95, 129: Leaves narrow, elongate; flower, small, deep cherry-red with pointed petals. Originated in England. There appears to be no English record of this name. Del Lungo e Girardi, 1928, says “a dark single flower used for understock”. It is probably the old single red species.
