Leaves glossy, mid-green, elliptic, acute apex, finely, shallowly serrate margins. Early to mid-season flowering. Originated in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. Collected in 1962 and named by Ishizawa. Locally erroneously known as ‘Kantsubaki’
