GSCT52 (Juhuachun). New clonal variety. Frutex type. Medium-leaf size. Early sprouting.

     It was selected individually from the progenies of natural hybridization between the Yunnan Daye variety and Pingyang population variety in 1979~1986 by Tea Re-search Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. New it has been introduced and popularized in the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Sichuan and Jiangxi.

     Plant medium size, semi-spreading type in shape, with high branching density. Leaves incline upwards. Length 10.9~12.0 cm, width 4.3~5.0 cm. Oblong in shape with blunt pointed tips. Surface of leaves slightly protruding. With slightly waved margin. Thin and soft in texture. Greenish yellow in color with glossy. 8%11 pairs of vein. With rough serrations. The sprouting period in spring season appears in the middle of March. The peak period of one bud and three leaves shoots stage appears in the middle of April. With high sprouting density and vigorous sprouting ability. Shoots thin and slendid, yellowish green in color with profuse fine hairs and extremely potent tenderness-keeping ability. The weight of 100 one bud and three leaves shoots averaged 29.7 g. The peak period of flowering stage appears in the first ten days of November. With abundant amounts of flowers and average bearing percentage. Rather higher cold hardiness and average resistance to drought. Wide adaptability. Potent rooting ability and higher survival rate during cutting propagation.

     Higher yielding. According to the results of varietial comparative experiment, the yield in an average of 3 years is 2.5% higher than that of Fudian Dabaicha. The yield of made tea in an area of 2 mu demonstractive tea with 7 years old tea plants in Tea Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences averaged 296.6~316.5 kg per mu.

     According to the analysis conducted by Tea Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the contents of caffeine in the one bud and two leaves shoots averaged 3.43%, amino acids 1.70%, tea polyphenols 22.79% and total catechins 174.9 mg/g. Suitable to manufacture the green tea and black tea. The roasted green tea and baked green tea prepared with GSCT52 variety as the raw material in the spring season is characterized by its tightly and finely rolled leaf with light green in color and fine hairs, fragrant and refreshing aroma, strong and fresh taste as well as bright liquor. It is suitable to manufacture the broken black tea (or congou black tea) in the summer and autumn season, and is characterized by its brownish leaf with reddish tint, fresh aroma and full taste. Liquor and infused leaf reddish and bright, and has a quality similiar to that of Zhenghe Dabaicha.

     Suitable to popularize in the tea area in the south-of-Yangzte River for the manufacture of black tea and green tea.

     Susceptible to diseases, such as brown blight and anthracnose after the frost injury during the winter and causes defoliation sometimes. It is recommended to select the land against the wind and face to south for the establishment of tea garden. To prune in the winter and to pluck more shoots in the autumn are suggested.

【产地与分布】由中国农业科学院茶叶研究所于1959~1986年从云南大叶茶与平阳群体自然杂交后代中采用单株育种法育成。浙江、江苏、安徽、湖南、四川、江西等省有栽培。1987年通过全国农作物品种审定委员会认定,编号GS13052-1987。

【形态特征】 植株中等,树姿半开张,分枝密。叶片呈上斜状着生,椭圆形,叶色黄緑,有光泽,叶面微隆起,叶身平略背卷,叶缘微波,叶尖钝尖,叶齿粗浅,叶质软。花冠直径3.2~3.9cm,花瓣白色、6〜8瓣,子房茸毛中等,花柱3裂。

【特性】 春季萌发期早,2011年在杭州观测,一芽二叶期出现在4月15日,比福鼎大白茶晚2天。芽叶生育力強,持嫩性强,黄绿色,纤细,茸毛多,一芽三叶百芽重52.5g。2011年在杭州取样,春茶一芽二叶含茶多酚17.9%、氨基酸3.5%、咖啡碱2.6%、水浸出物53.9%。产量高,每667㎡可产干奪250kg。适制绿茶和红茶。制毛峰茶,外形嫩绿显毫、香气鲜浓,滋味鲜醇=制红茶,香气清爽,滋味较浓。抗寒和扦插繁殖能力均较强,移栽成活率高。

【适栽地区】江南茶区。

【栽培要点】适宜单行或双行条栽规格种植,冬季受冻后易发生云纹叶枯病、炭疽病,有时落叶较多,注意选择土层深厚、有机质丰富的背风向阳地块栽种。按时进行定型修剪和摘顶养蓬。越冬前轻修剪。
