Verschaffelt Catalogue, 1849-1850, p.47. No description. Originated in England. Griffing’s Nurseries, 1946 Cat., p.6 This variety is one of the very choice selections offered for general planting. The foliage is a reach green even not in bloom. Very late blooming type, thus useful in selections where the cold injures the early flowers. The flowers are a dark red, peony form and very double. Excellent for cultivation. Stocky compact growth is noticed on this variety.
