Chinka Zufu, (before 1700) Watanabe, 1969, pl.675: Small, red, rose form double; white with splashes of crimson, with 4-5 rows of imbricated petals, opening to show stamens. Originated in Japan. “Momijinoga” was the ancient word for the nobles picnicking under the maple trees and occurs in the 11th century book Genji Monogatori(Believed extinct.)
