Ichijima, 1906, Kokon Yōrankō vol.344, p.569. (Reprint of Yashiro, 1841): Blossoms rather small, red, semi-double. Blooms early. Originated in Japan. ‘Manyo’ is the famous ancient anthology of Japan. Note: This may be the transcription error for the C.sasanqua Ryōmen in Kadan Chikinshō, 1695.(Believed extinct.)
