Itō, Ihei, 1695, Kadan Chikinshō, #93: Large, convexed, double, red flower with a few white spots and piled up petals. Originated in Japan. Synonyms: ‘Shōjōbeni’, ‘Shōjōkō. The ‘Shōjō’ are legendary beings with the body of a monkey and long red hair. They are especially fond of sake. The name is sometimes translated as Orangutang(Believed extinct.)
