Flowers are white, 4.0-5.0 cm in diameter, borne singly at the tip of the shoot and in leaf axils. Perules 9-11, glabrous or sparsely villous at the tip. Petals 6-7,2.0-3.0 cm long, 1.0-2.0 cm wide, obovate, cleft at the tip, nearly free at the base. Androecium glabrous, 1.5-2.0 cm long, outside filaments nearly free at the base. Gynoecium 2.0-23 cm long, 3-5 styles, free, not fused, at the base, persistent until capsule maturity, ovary glabrous. Blooming season: autumn to winter. Capsules globose, 2.5-3.0 cm in diameter, 3-5 locules, pericarp wall 2 mm thick, surface tuberculate. Seeds glabrous. Leaves elliptic or ovate-elliptic, tip acute, base cuneate, 8.0-13.5 cm long, 3.0-6.0 cm wide, sparsely sharp-serrulate, lower surface with midrib slightly raised. Petioles 5-10 mm long, glabrous. Small tree up to 5 m tall, young shoots glabrous and soft, slightly angular, older branches smooth and gray-brown in color. Distribution: Western part of Guangxi, in the border area between Guizhou and Yunnan Provinces; Elevation: 800-1,200m; Specific locality: A ravine on the left side of Jinzhongshan For-est Farm, Longlin County,Guangxi, China.
