[Description] This species is very close to C. granthamiana, but there are up to 17 bracts and sepals which are also smaller, the fruit does not completely enclose the capsule; petals 10, fila-ments connate into a short tube or nearly free; styles 5-cleft to nearly one-half the length, lower half connate; 1 seed per locule of the capsule.

大白山茶Camellia albogigas Hu in Acta Phytotax. Sin. 10：132. 1965. 张宏达，1981. 《山茶属植物的系统研究》第16页。【标本】广东Kuangtung：封开县，七星公社，丘华兴182；同地，黄岗山，陈少卿 S.C.Chun18405 (模式Typus!)。【形态特征】这个种和大荀白山茶Sealy很接近，只是荀及萼片多达17片，而且较短小，在结果实时不完全包着整个蒴果，花瓣10片，花丝连合成短管或近离 生，花柱5裂过半，下半部连合，种子每室1个。
