Camellia azalea C.F.Wei,  first published in  Bull. Bot. Res., Harbin 6(4): 141 (1986). Gao Jiyin, Clifford R. Parks, Du Yueqiang, 2005, Collected Species of the Genus Camellia an Illustrated Outline，p.34-35. Flowers are bright red, 6.0-10.0 cm in diameter, borne singly or clustered at the tip of the shoots. Perules 7-11, persistent, about 1/2 part of a capsule covered by the perules,green, outside glabrous, inside silver-gray pubescent. Petals 5-9, 4.5-8.0 cm long, 2.5-4. 5 cm wide, obovate to obcordate-lanceolate, slightly cleft at the tip, free at the base. Androecium glabrous, 2.5-4.0 cm long, outside stamens fused at the base into a tube 1. 3-1.6 cm long. Gynoecium 3.5 cm long, 2-4 styles divide at the tip, fused at the base, ovary glabrous. Blooming season: summer to autumn, occasionally any season of the year.Capsules ovoid to fusiform or coniform, 2.0-2.5 cm long, 2.0 cm in diameter, glabrous, 2-4 locules, pericarp wall 1-2 mm thick.Leaves long and narrow, obovate to oblanceolate, tip rounded, base cuneate, 5.0-12.0 cm long, 2.0-4.0 cm wide, margin smooth, both surfaces glabrous with raised midvein. 高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第34-35页。花鲜艳红色，直径6.0 ~ 10.0厘米， 单生或聚生于枝顶。鳞片7 ~ 11枚，宿存，几乎包被果实的1/2,绿色，外面无毛，里面被银灰色绢毛。花瓣5 ~ 9枚，长4.5 ~ 8.0厘米, 宽2.5 ~4.5厘米，倒卵形至倒心状披针形，先端略凹，基部离生。雄蕊无毛，长2.5~4.0厘 米，外轮花丝基部连生，形成1.3〜1.6厘米的 短管。雌蕊长3.5厘米，花柱先端2~4裂，子房无毛。花期夏季至秋季，有时全年开花。蒴果卵球形、纺锤形或圆锥型，长2.0~2.5厘米，直径2.0厘米，无毛，2~4室，果 皮厚1~2毫米。叶狭长倒卵形至倒披针形，先端圆形，基 部楔形，长5.0~12.0厘米，宽2.0~4.0厘米， 叶缘光滑，叶片两面无毛，中脉两面凸起。叶 柄长5~15毫米，无毛。灌木，高可达3米，嫩枝无毛，略显红色, 老枝光滑，黄褐色。分布：广东省阳春市局部山区有发现，海拔300-450米。可寻地点:广东省阳春市河尾山林场电站附近。
