Flowers are red or light-red, 4.0-6.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tip of the shoots and in leaf axils; bud set often abundant. Perules 7-9, slightly pubescent. Petals 6-7, 3.0-4.0 cm long, obovate, fused with the staminal column from the base up to 7-8 mm. Androecium glabrous, 2.0-2.5 cm long, outer layer of stamens fused from the base into a cup up to 5-7 mm long. Gynoecium2.5 cm long, 3 styles slightly cleft at the tip, glabrous, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: late autumn to winter.Capsules globose, 4.0-5.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules, pericarp wall1.0 cm in thickness.Leaves oblong, tip acuminate, base cuneate, 7.0-9.0 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm wide, margin sharply and thinly serrulate, upper surface with midrib and lateral veins impressed, lower surface with midrib and lateral veins raised, slightly villous.
