Flowers are red with a waxy texture,3.5-4.2 cm in diameter, borne singly at the tip of twigs. Perules 8-11, outer surface pubescent. Petals 6-7, 2.0-3.5 cm long, 1.6-3.0 cm wide, obovate, outer surface pubescent, tip slightly emarginate, united at the base with the staminal column. Androecium 1.5-2.0 cm long, outer filaments fused at the base into a short tube 5-7 mm long. Gynoecium1.2-1.6 cm long, 3 styles shallowly divided at the tip, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: late autumn to early spring.Capsules subglobose, surface reddish, 6.0-8.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules.Leaves oblong, tip sharply acuminate, base cuneate, 4.0-6.0 cm long, 1.5-2.0 cm wide, margin densely and sharply serrulate, coriaceous, upper surface with lateral veins slightly sunken, lower surface with lateral veins slightly raised, midrib slightly pubescent.
