Flowers are deep pink to red, 4.0-5.5 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of twigs and in leaf axils. Perules 8, outside slightly pubescent. Petals 7-8,3.0-3.5 cm long,1.5-2.0 cm wide, obovate, tip emarginate, margin slightly creped, slightly united at the base with the staminal column. Androecium 2.0-2.5 cm long, outer layer fused at the base into a short tube 13 mm long. Gynoecium 1.2-1.5 cm long, 3 styles slightly divided at the tip, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: late winter to early spring.Capsules globose, 4.0-6.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules, pericarp wall1-2 mm in thickness.Leaves oblong-elliptic, tip caudate, base cuneate, 10.0-14.0 cm long,3.0-5.0 cm wide, margin thinly and sharply serrulate, coriaceous, upper surface with lateral veins slightly sunken, lower surface with lateral veins slightly raised, sparsely pubescent.
