Leaves membranous, oblong or oblanceolate, 10-15 cm long, 3-5. 5 cm wide, apices acuminate or abruptly acute, bases cuneate or slightly obtuse; greyish-brown above in the dry state, dull, glabrous; light brown below, glabrous, dark-punctate; lateral veins 10-11, midvein impressed above, protrudingbelow; margins serrulate; petioles ca. 1 cm long, glabrous. Flowers axillary, 4-5.5 cm in diameter, short pedicellate; bracts 4-6; sepals 5, suborbicular, 3-5 mm long, puberulent; petals 8-9, basally slightly connate, apices slightly pointed; stamens 1. 3-1. 5 cm long; ovaries glabrous; styles 3-parted, free. Capsules axillary, flattened tricoccus, with 3indented grooves, 4. 5 cm wide, 2.5 cm high, glabrous, 3-locular, 1-2 seeds per locule, 3-valvate dehiscent; pericarp thin, less than 1 mm thick; with a columella; seeds globoseor hemispherical, brown; pedicels 6-7 mm long; 3-4 persistent bracts, semiorbicular toorbicular, 4-7 mm long, 5-8 mm wide, glabrous.

Pedicels 3-4 mm long. Bracts 4-6, outer surface pubescent. Sepals 5, persistent, outer surface puberulent, inside surface glabrous, margin ciliate. Petals 8-9, 1.0-1.9 cm long, 0.8-1.5 cm wide, broadly obovate, curled outward when open, tip slightly acuminate, slightly united at the base. Androecium glabrous, 1.3-1.5 cm long, outer layer of stamens fused into a column 2-3 mm from the base. Gynoecium about 10 mm long, 3 styles, free, not fused at the base, ovary slightly tomentose. Blooming season: winter .Capsule triangluar-oblate, 2.5-4.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules, pericarp wall 1 mm thick. Seeds yellow-pubescent. Leaves oblong, tip acuminate or shortly acute, base cuneate, 10.0-18.0 cm long, 3.0-6.5 cm wide, margin thinly serrulate, membrane-likely coriaceous, upper surface with midrib and lateral veins conspicuously impressed, glabrous, lower surface with midrib and laterals raised, glabrous, cork-warts. Petioles 6-10 mm long, glabrous. hrub or small tree up to 5 m tall, young shoots reddish-purple, glabrous, older branches gray-yellow in color. Austro-Sin.);弄岗,王伯荪7901,7901A,7901B,7906,7907,7909;弄岗综考队 11364。【形态特征】灌木,高2.5米,嫩枝无毛。叶膜质,长圆形或倒披针形,长10-15厘米,宽3-5.5厘米,先端渐尖或急短尖,基部楔形或狭窄而略鈍,上面干后灰褐色,暗晦,无毛,下面浅褐色,无毛,有黑腺点,侧脉9-11对,与中脉在上面陷下,在下面突起,边缘有细锯齿,叶柄长约1厘米,无毛。花腋生,直径4-5.5厘米;有短柄;苞片4-6片;萼片5,近圆形,长3-5毫米,被微毛;花瓣8-9片,基部稍连生,先端略尖;雄蕊长1.3-1.5厘米;子房无毛,花柱3条,离生。蒴果腋生,扁三角形,有3条收窄直沟,宽4.5厘米,高2.5厘米,无毛,3室,每室有种子1-2粒,3爿裂开;果爿薄,厚不及1毫米,无中轴;种子圆球形或半球形,褐色;果柄长6-7毫米,有宿存苞片3-4片,苞片半圆形,长1-1.5毫米,宽2-3毫米,无毛;宿存萼片5片,半圆形至圆形,长4-7毫米,宽5-8毫米,无毛。
