Flowers are white, slightly fragrant, 2.0-3.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots, and in leaf axils; bud set may be abundant Perules 8-10, drop as, or before, corolla expands, outside densely pubescent except for edges, inside glabrous. Petals 4-7,1.2-2.5 cm long, 0.5-1.7 cm wide, crinkled, obovate to obcordate, petals free, not fused to the androecial column. Androecium glabrous, outer filaments free or fused at the base up to 4 mm, 20^0 stamens. Gynoecium 10-12 mm long, 3 styles, 25%-67 % fused from the base, ovary densely tomentose. Blooming season: autumn to early winter. Capsules variably ovoid to slightly pyriform in shape, 1.7-2.4 cm long, 1.5-2.3 cm in diameter, densely villous becoming glabrescent, 3 locular, one seed per locule, pericarp wall 1-2 mm thick. Seed edible oil content is approximately 34.6%.Leaves narrowly elliptic, tips acuminate to narrowly acuminate, base attenuate to cuneate, 5.0-12.0 cm long, 1.0-3.0 cm wide, margin serrulate, puberulent along upper midrib, lower surface glabrous to sparsely villous on midrib and blade. Petioles 5-8 mm long, puberulent on the upper side. Shrub or small tree up to 5 m tall, young shoots sparsely to moderately puberulent, hair eroding with age, twigs brown, older branches smooth, and gray in color. Distribution: Mountain valleys and rivers or stream banks in Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan, China, as well as in Burma and India; Elevation: 300¬600 m; Specific locality: Fourth Team, Pingjiang Farm, Shangsi County, Guangxi, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第181页。花白色，略有芳香，花径2.0~3.0厘米，枝端顶生或在叶腋簇生，花芽多。鳞片8~10枚，花朵展开前后逐渐脱落，外面密被柔毛，边缘无毛，里面无毛。花瓣4~7枚，长1.2~2.5厘米，宽0.5~1.7厘米，略起皱，倒卵形至倒心形，离生。雄蕊无毛，20~40枚，外轮花丝离生或基部连生4毫米。雌蕊长10~12毫米，花柱3裂，基部 25%~67%连生，子房密被绒毛。花期秋季到冬初。蒴果卵球形至梨形，长1.7~2.4厘米，直径1.5~2.3厘米，也有 棱角被挤压形成的其他形状，成熟果实呈绿色，密被长柔毛，后有些脱落，3室，每室1粒种子，果皮厚1~2毫米。种子含油量约34.6%。叶片狭窄椭圆形，先端渐尖至窄渐尖，基部狭窄楔形，长5.0~12.0厘米，宽1.0~3.0厘米，边缘具齿，叶面中脉有微柔毛，叶背中脉无毛或有稀疏长柔毛。叶柄长5~8毫米，上面有微柔毛。灌木或小乔木，高可达5米，嫩枝有微柔毛，而后秃净，枝条棕色，老枝光滑，灰色。分布：广东、广西、海南等省、自治区以及印度和缅甸等国，常生 长在山谷，河边和溪旁，海拔300-600米。可寻地点:广西壮族自治区 上思县平江农场4队。
