Camellia indochinensis, Subgenus Thea, Sect. Longipedicellata, Chang Hung-ta and Bruce Bartholomew (1984). Camellias, p.127: Camellia indochinensis Merr., Journ. Arn. Arb. 20: 347. 1939. [Description] Branchlets glabrous. Leaves thinly coriaceous, elliptic, 10 cm long, 4. 5 cm wide. Pedicels 5-6 cm long; bracts 6, opposite; sepals 5; petals 8-9, 1.6 cm long; filament tube8mm long, ovaries glabrous, styles 3-parted. Capsules oblate, 4 cm wide, 2 cm high, 3-locular, 2 seeds per locule. [Distribution] Guizhou, Guangxi and Yunnan provinces of China as well as northern Vietnam. [Synonym] Thea indochinensis (Merr.) Gagnep., Suppl. Fl. Gen. Indo-Chine, 1: 307. 1943.

Flowers are white, 3.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots and in leaf axils. Pedicels 5-6 mm long, glabrous. Perules 10-11, glabrous. Petals 8-9, 1.5-2.0 cm long, obovate, united from the base with the staminal column 3-4 mm. Androecium glabrous, approximately 1.5 cm long, outer filaments fused from the base 6 mm to form a tube. Gynoecium 1.3 cm long, 3 glabrous styles, ovary glabrous. Blooming season: late autumn to early winter. Capsules oblate, 3.0-4.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules. Leaves elliptic, tip obtuse-acuminate, base blunt, 6.5-11.0 cm long,3.0-5.4 cm wide, margin obtusely serrulate with teeth spaced 1.5-4.0 mm apart, lower surface glabrous, lateral veins raised, scattered cork-warts. Petioles 7-10 mm long, glabrous. Shrub or small tree up to 4 m tall, young shoots glabrous, grayish-brown, older branches smooth and gray in color. Distribution: Tiane and Jinxiu counties, Guangxi, southwestern Guizhou Province，southeastern Yunnan Province, China and northern Vietnam; Elevation: 250-400 m; Specific locality: a hill behind Liuxiang Village, Jinxiu County, Guangxi, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第160页。花白色，花径约3.0厘米，顶生或腋生，花柄长5~6毫米，无毛。鱗片10~11枚，无毛。花瓣8〜9枚，长1.5~2.0厘米，倒卵形，基部与雄蕊柱连生3~4毫米。雄蕊无毛，长约1.5厘米，外轮花丝连生形成6毫米长短管。雌蕊长1.3厘米，花柱3条，子房无毛。花期秋末至冬初。蒴扁球形，直径3.0~4.0厘米，3室。叶椭圆形，先端短尖，基部钝圆形，长6.5~11.0厘米，宽3.0~5.4厘米，边缘齿钝，齿距1.5~4.0毫米，叶背无毛，侧脉凸起，散生腺点。叶柄长7~10毫米，无毛。灌木或小乔木，高可达4米，嫩枝无毛，灰褐色，老枝光滑，灰白色。分布：广西壮族自治区的天峨、金秀一带，现中国贵州 省西南部、云南省的东南部和越南北部也有发现，海拔250-400米。可寻地点:广西壮族自治区金秀县六巷村后山。
