Sunyatseni, Monogr. Ser. 1: 35. 1981. [Description] A typo differt floribus multo majoribus, petalis 3 cm longis 2 cm latis. Flowers relatively large, 6 cm in diameter; petals obcordate, 3 cm long, 2 cm wide, other characters the same as the species.

Flowers are white, slightly fragrant,5.0-6.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots, and in leaf axils. Perules 9, drop as flower opens. Petals 6-7, 3.0 cm long, 2.0 cm wide, obcordate, free at the base. Androecium 1.0-1.3 mm long, filaments nearly free at the base. Gynoecium 3-5 mm long, 3-4 styles, 7 mm long, glabrous, not fused at the base, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: autumn to winter. Capsules globose to peach-shaped, small, 1.0-2.0 cm in diameter, villose, 2-3 locules, wall thin. Seed oil content is 44%.Leaves long-elliptic to lanceolate in shape, tip acute, base cuneate, 4.5-6.5 cm long, 1.5-2.2 cm wide, margin serrulate, upper surface slightly rough, with very obviously impressed veins. Petioles 3-4 mm long. Shrub up to 3 m tall, young shoots villous, older shoots glabrous. Distribution: Zhaoping and Jinxiu areas in Guangxi; Elevation: 300-500 m; Specific locality: Nanyong village, Nanyong township, Zhaoping County, Guangxi, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第186-187页。花白色，略芳香，直径5.0~6.0厘米，顶生或腋生。鱗片9枚，随着花朵开放而脱落。花瓣6~7枚，长3.0厘米，宽2.0厘米，倒心形，基部离生。雄蕊长1.0~1.3厘米，倒心形，基部离生。雌蕊长3~5毫米，花柱3~4个，长7毫米，无毛，基部离生，子房被绒毛。花期秋季到冬季。蒴果球形至桃形，小，直径1.0~2.0厘米，被长柔毛，2~3室，果皮薄。种子含油量44%。叶长椭圆形至似披针形，先端急尖，基部楔形，长4.5~ 6.5厘米，宽1.5~2.2厘米，边缘具齿，叶面略粗糖，侧脉明显凹陷。叶柄长3~4毫米。灌木，高可达3米，嫩枝被柔毛，老枝无毛。分布：自然分布在广西壮族自治区昭平、金秀一带，海拔300-500米。可寻地点:广西壮族自治区昭平县南荣乡南荣村。
