Leaves thinly coriaceous, narrowly lanceolate, 4-6. 5 cm long, 1-1.3 cm wide, apices caudate-acuminate, cauda 1-1. 5 cm long, bases broadly cuneate or rounded; greenish-brown above, shiny, midveinpuberulent; glabrous below; lateral veins 5-7 pairs, inconspicuous on both surfaces; margins densely serrate, teeth separation ca. 1 mm; petioles 3-4 mm long, pubescent. Flowers terminal to axillary, pedicels short; bracts 3, broadly ovate, 1.5-2. 5 mm long, puberulent; calyx shallowly cup-shaped, 5 mm long, pubescent, upper half 5-parted; sepals ovate, apices obtuse; petals 5-7, broadly ovate, bases slightly connate, outer 2coriaceous, puberulent, others obovate, 2 cm long, puberulent; stamens shorter thanpetals, outer filament whorl basally connate into a tube, upper half free, glabrous; ovaries glabrous, style apices shallowly 3-cleft. Flowers are pure white, fragrant,1.5-2.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of twigs and in leaf axils; bud set may be heavy. Pedicels 1-3 mm long. Bracts 3-4, outside surface puberulent. Petioles 3-4 mm long, pubescent. Shrub or small tree up to 3 m in height, young shoots slender, grayish-pubescent, older branches glabrous, yellowish-brown in color. Distribution: Ruyuan County and Liannan County of northern Guangdong Province, and Ningyuan County and Dao County of south¬eastern Hunan Province; Elevation: 500-1,000 m; Specific locality: Tianjingshan, Ruyuan County, Guangdong Province, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第246页。花洁白色，芳香，花径1.5-2.0厘米，顶生或多朵腋生。花柄长1~3毫米。苞片3~4枚，表面有微毛。萼片5枚，表面被短柔毛。花瓣5枚，长1.4~1.9厘米，宽0.5~1.0厘米，长圆形至倒卵形，先端略凹缺，基部与雄蕊柱略连生。雄蕊无毛，长1.5~2.0厘米，外轮花丝基部连生形成1.2~1.8厘米长短管。雌蕊长1.8~2.5厘米，花柱先端3浅裂，子房无毛。花期冬末至春季。蒴果球形，直径0.5~1.3厘米，3室，果皮薄。叶狭披针形，先端尾状渐尖，基部楔形或阔楔形，长5.5~6.8厘米，宽1.0~1.4厘米，边缘具细齿，薄革质，叶面中脉被短毛，略凹陷，叶背无毛，中脉凸起。叶柄长3~4毫米，被短柔毛。灌木，高可达3米，嫩枝纤细，被灰色短柔毛，老枝无毛，淡黄褐色。分布：广东省北部的乳源、连南等县以及湖南东南部 的宁远、道县等地，海拔500-1000米。可寻地点:湖南省乳源县天井山。
