Pedicels 3 mm long. Bracts 4-5, outer surface pubescent, margin ciliate. Sepals 5, outer surface pubescent, margin ciliate. Petals 8, 6-12 mm long, suborbicular to elliptic in shape, slightly united at the base to the staminal column. Androecium 4-10 mm in length, filaments slightly fused at the base into a short column. Gynoecium 10-14 mm in length, 3 styles, free, not fused at the base, ovary glabrous. Blooming season: late autumn to early winter. Capsules triangular-oblate, 1.5-2.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules, pericarp wall 1-2 mm thick. Seeds glabrous. Leaves ovate to oblong, tip acuminate, base broadly cuneate, 4.0-8.0 cm long, 1.5-4.0 cm wide, margin thinly serrulate, thinly coriaceous, upper surface with midribs and lateral veins slightly impressed, lower surface with midribs and lateral veins slightly raised, glabrous, cork-warts. Petioles 5-8 mm long, glabrous. Shrub up to 2 m tall, young shoots thin and dense, purple-red in color, glabrous, older branches gray-brown in color. Distribution: Under evergreen forest canopy on limestone hills in the counties of Longzhou. Ningming, Daxin, and Fusui of south-ern Guangxi and northern Vietnam; Elevation:100-350 m; Specific locality: The Nonggang Natural Conservation, the villages of Sanlian and Xinlian, Wude Township as well as Changtang Village, Zhubo Township, Longzhou County,Guangxi, China.

Mo南宁市金花茶公园，2021.《国内外金花茶物种图鉴》，广西科学技术出版社，第64-65页。【形态特征】常绿灌木，高1.0-2.0m。树皮灰棕色。嫩枝圆柱形，浅红棕色，无毛；老枝深黄棕色。叶芽锥形，红棕色带黄绿色。嫩叶紫棕色。老叶革质有光泽，椭圆形或近圆形，长3.6-6.0cm，宽2.3-3.6cm，叶缘有胼胝质浅细锯齿，先端短尾状渐尖或急尖，基部宽楔形或楔形，正面深绿色，背面浅绿色有黑色腺点；侧脉4-6对；主脉和侧脉在叶面凹陷，在叶背凸起；叶柄长0.6-1.1cm，无毛。花蕾球形。花淡黄色至近白色，单生或2-3朵簇生，顶生或腋生，直径1.7-2.2cm；花梗长0.3-0.6cm；苞片3-5枚，长椭圆形；萼片5-6枚，淡黄绿色，近圆形或长椭圆形，边缘有白色短茸毛，宿存；花瓣7-8枚，长椭圆形，全开时花瓣顶端外翻；雄蕊多数，花 丝长0.9-1.2cm，4轮筒状排列，外轮基部约1.5mm处合生，内轮离生，无毛；花柱3条，长1.2-1.3cm，比雄蕊长，无毛，深裂；子房近球形，光滑无毛，3室。蒴果扁三角状球形，红棕色带黄绿色，直径1.5-3.1cm，高1.5-1.8cm，重1.5-8.0g，果皮厚1.3-1.7mm。种子每室1-2粒，近球形或半球形，黑褐色。花期12月至翌年2月，果熟期10-11月。【原产地】该种分布于中国广西龙州、宁明和越南谅山，生长在海拔120-300m的常绿阔叶林中。【识别要点】该种叶片椭圆形或近圆形；花淡黄色至近白色，直径较小，为1.7-2.2cm。
