Flowers are white, fragrant, 1.5-2.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tip of the shoot or in leaf axils. Pedicels about 2 mm in length. Bracts 4, ciliate on margin. Sepals 5. Petals 7, 7-13 mm long, broadly obovate in shape, slightly fused to the androecial column at the base. Androecium 4-8 mm in length, filaments free at the base. Gynoecium 5-10 mm long, 2-3 styles cleft at the tip, ovary glabrous. Blooming season: spring. Capsule globate, 1-2 locules. Leaves long-ovate, tip caudate-acuminate, base suborbicular,2.0-3.2 cm long, 1.0-1.6 cm wide, margin thinly serrulate on the upper part, smooth on both sides of blade. Petioles 1-1.5 mm in length, slightly pubescent on upper side. Shrub or small tree up to 4 m in height, young shoots slightly pubescent, young leaves with reddish, older branches smooth, yellow-brown. Distribution: Under forests in ravines or along streams in Libo and Chishui counties of southwestern Guizhou Province; Elevation: 700-950 m; Specific locality: Yuanhou Township, Chishui City, Guizhou Province, China.
