Perules 8-9, outside silky-villous. Petals 6-8, 3.0-4.0 cm long, obovate, silky-pubescent on back, fused from the base with the staminal column up to 7 mm. Androecium2.5-3.0 cm long, outer layer of stamens fused from the base into a tube 3-5 mm long. Gynoecium 3.5-4.0 cm long, 3 styles deeply divided at the tip, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: spring.Capsules globose, 4.5-5.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules, pericarp wall 7-11 mm in thickness.Leaves obovate-lanceolate, tip sharply acute, base cuneate, 7.0-13.0 cm long, 4.0-6.0 cm wide, margin sharply serrulate on upper portion, upper surface smooth, lower surface with midrib slightly raised, glabrous. Petiole 10-15 mm long. Shrub or small tree up to 3 m tall, young shoots glabrous, older branches smooth, brown in color. Distribution: Mountains in Leishan County, Kaili City and Shibing County, southeastern Guizhou Province; Elevation: 900-1,700 m; Specific locality: Xinglian Village, Daping, Leishan County, Guizhou Province, China.
