Flowers are golden yellow, 1.5-4.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots and in leaf axils. Bracts 5-6, outer surfaces pubescent, margins ciliate. Sepals 5, pubescent on both sides, margins ciliate, outer surface with purple-red spots. Petals approximately 9, 1.0-1.9 cm long, 0.9-1.5 cm wide, rounded to oblong, free at the base, slightly pubescent. Androecium glabrous, approximately 9 mm long, outermost stamens fused at the base into a tube up to 2 mm long. Gyno-ecium approximately 1.5 cm long, 3 styles, lower portion pubescent, free, not fused at the base, ovary gray-tomentose. Blooming season: late autumn to early winter. Capsules oblate, pubescent, 2.0-2.5 cm in diameter, 3 locules, pericarp wall about 1 mm thick. Leaves elliptic, tip acute, base cuneate or rounded, 7.5-19.0 cm long, 3.5- 6.0 cm wide, margin finely serrulate, upper surface with midrib slightly raised, glabrous, lower surface midrib significantly raised, glabrous, cork-warts. Petioles 1.0-1.2 cm long, glabrous. Shrub or small tree up to 4 m tall, terminal buds pubescent, older branches smooth and gray-brown in color. Distribution: Under evergreen forest canopy in limestone areas in Longzhou County in southern Guangxi; Elevation: 200-550 m; Specific localities: Banbi Village, Jinlong Township, Longzhou County and Nali Village, Shanxu Township, Fusui County,Guangxi, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第109页。花金黄色，花径1.5~4.0厘米，腋生或顶生。苞片5~6枚，外被毛，边缘有睫毛，萼片5枚，两面被毛，边缘有睫毛，外有紫红色斑块。花瓣约9枚，长1.0~1.9厘米，宽0.9~1.5厘米，近圆形至长圆形，基部离生，略被短柔毛。雄蕊无毛，长约9毫米，外轮花丝基部连生2毫米。雌蕊长约1.5厘米，花柱3条，中下部被柔毛，基部离生,子房被灰色绒毛。花期秋末至冬末。蒴果扁球形，灰绿色，被短柔毛，直径2.0~2.5厘米，3室，果皮厚约1毫米。叶长椭圆形，先端急尖，基部楔形或近圆形，长7.5~1 9.0厘米，宽3.5~6.0厘米，边缘具细齿，叶面中脉略凸起，无毛，叶背中脉明显凸起，无毛，具腺点。叶柄长1.0~1.2厘米，无毛。灌木或小乔木，高可达4米，顶芽被短柔毛，老枝光滑，灰褐色。分布：广西壮族自治区南部龙州县境内(常生长在石灰岩山地的森林中），海拔200-550米。可寻地点:广西壮族自治区龙州县金龙乡板闭村和扶绥县山圩乡那利村。
