C. luuana possesses sessile or almost sessile, solitary or geminate, terminal and axillary, light yellow flowers, with central and proximal petal areas mid yellow, 3.0-3.5 (-4.5) cm diam.; sepals 7 arranged in a loose and rather imperfect spiral; petals 10, basally overlapping, also in a loose and imperfect spiral; anthers dorsifixed; style single, yellowish green, short and stout, finely tomentose for two thirds of its length; ovary superior, rotund, with dense white tomentum.

This species is not belong to the genus Camellia, a synonym of  Pyrenaria jonquieriana Pierre,  Fl. Forest. 花无梗或几乎无梗、单生或对生、顶生和腋生、浅黄色的花，花瓣中央和下部为中黄色，直径 3.0-3.5 (-4.5) 厘米。 花瓣 10，基部重叠，也呈松散而不完美的螺旋状；花药背着；花柱单生，黄绿色，短而粗壮，三分之二的长度被细绒毛；子房上位，圆形，有浓密的白色绒毛。
