Flowers are white,5.0-6.5 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots and in leaf axils. Pedicels 5-6 mm long, glabrous. Bracts 2, early deciduous. Sepals 5, glabrous. Petals 10-14, 2.5-3.5 cm long, obovate, slightly united with the staminal column at the base. Androecium glabrous,1.5-1.7 cm long, stamens nearly free from the base. Gynoecium pubescent, 1.2 cm long, 3-5 styles deeply cleft at the tip, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: autumn to winter. Capsules oblate, 4.0-6.0 cm in diameter, 3-5 locules, pericarp wall 5-7 mm thick. Leaves elliptic or oblong, tip sharply acuminate, base cuneate, 8.0-12.0 cm long,3.0-5.0 cm wide, margin irregularly serrulate, upper surface glabrous, midribs and lateral veins raised on both surfaces of blade. Petioles 5-8 mm long. Shrub or small tree up to 10 m tall, young shoots glabrous, older branches grayish-brown in color. Distribution: Southeastern Yunnan near Vietnam;Elevation: 1,700-1,800 m; Specific locality: Kashang Village, Gulinqing Town, Maguan County, Yunnan Province, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第219页。花白色，花径5.0~6.5厘米，顶生或腋生。花柄长5~6毫米，无毛。苞片2枚，早落。萼片5枚，无毛。花瓣10~14枚，长2.5~3.5厘米，倒卵圆形，基部与雄蕊柱略连生。雄蕊无毛，长约1.5~1.7厘米，花丝基部近离生。雌蕊被短柔毛，长1.2厘米，花柱先端3~5深裂，子房被绒毛。花期秋季至冬季。蒴果扁球形，直径4.0~6.0厘米，3~5室，果皮厚5~7毫米。叶椭圆形或长圆形，先端锐尖，基部楔形，长8.0~12.0厘米，宽3.0~5.0厘米，边缘具不规则齿，叶面无毛，中脉和侧脉在两面凸起。叶柄长5 ~ 8毫米。小乔木或乔木，高可达10米，嫩枝无毛,顶芽被灰白色柔毛，老枝灰褐色，无毛。分布：中国云南省东南部靠近越南边界一带，海拔1700-1800米。可寻地点:云南省马关县古林箐镇卡上村。
