[Description] Leaves elliptic, 11 cm long, 5 cm wide. There are no specimens of this species with flowers. Fruit oblate, 5 cm in diameter, becoming black in the dry state; pedicels thick, to almost 1 cm long persistent bracts and sepals 11-12.

Flowers are golden yellow, 4.0-6.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots and in leaf axils; bud set may be abundant. Pedicels 1.0-1.5 cm long, stout. Bracts 5-8, glabrous. Sepals 5, persistent, glabrous. Petals 8-12, 1.5-3.0 cm long,1.0- 2.0 cm wide, suborbicular, fleshy, rounded at the tip, slightly united with the staminal column at the base, margin ciliate.
