» Description

Camellia oconoriana Orel, Curry & Luu Section: : Chrysanthae, Edinburgh Journal of Botany70(3): 439 (2013), Type: Vietnam, Lam Dong Province: unnamed mountain about 120 km south-west from the City of Da Lat, 22/10/2010,Orel & Curry 0720(Holotype NSW; Isotype VNM)。This name is a synonym of Camellia langbianensis.

The specimen was discovered by Orel, Curry in 2010 in an area about 120 km southwest of Da Lat city, Lam Dong province. In 2013, in the Edinburgh Journal of Botany, the authors G. Orel, P. G. Wilson, A. S. Curry and Luu Hong Truong published a new species with the scientific name Camellia oconoriana, the Vietnamese name is Oconor Tea, named after Rachel O'Conor, an honorary member of the New South Wales Tea Research Association, Sydney. The species has many morphological characteristics similar to Camellia vidalii.
