Flowers are pale-pink to pink, 6.0-8.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of twigs. Perules 8-9, outer surface gray-silky pubescent. Petals 5-6, 3.0-4.5 cm long, 2.5-3.2 cm wide, obovate-cordate, tip emarginate, margin slightly creped, outer surface pilose, united from the base with the staminal column up to 7-10 mm. Androecium glabrous, 2.5-3.0 cm long, outer stamens fused at the base into a short tube 8-10 mm long. Gynoecium2.0- 2.3cm in length, 3 styles slightly divided at the tip, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: spring. Capsules globose, 3.0-4.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules, pericarp wall5-7 mm thick. Seeds glabrous. Leaves lanceolate or narrow-oblong, tip acuminate, base cuneate,7.0- 10.0 cm long, 2.8-3.5 cm wide, margin thinly serrulate, upper surface with midrib slightly sunken, otherwise smooth, lower surface with midrib slightly raised, otherwise smooth, glabrous. Petiole about 10 mm long. 高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第59页。花淡粉红色至粉红色，花径6.0~ 8.0厘米，顶生。鳞片8~9枚，背面被灰色丝毛。花瓣5~6枚，长3.0~4.5厘米，宽2.5~3.2厘米，倒卵状心形，先端有凹缺，边缘略起皱，背有稀疏短柔毛，基部与雄蕊柱连生7~10毫米。雄蕊无毛，长2.5~3.0厘米，外轮花丝基部连生形成8~10毫米长短管。雌蕊长2.0~2.3厘米，花柱先端3裂，子房被绒毛。花期春季。蒴果球形，直径3.0~4.0厘米，3室，果皮厚5~7毫米。种子无毛。叶披针形或狭长圆形，先端渐尖，基部楔形，长7.0~10.0厘米，宽2.8~3.5厘米，边缘具细齿，叶面主脉略凹陷，光滑，叶背主脉略凸起，无毛，光滑。叶柄长约10毫米。灌木，高1.5米，嫩枝无毛，老枝光滑，灰褐色。分布：四川省南部西昌市至米易县一带，海拔1800- 2200米。可寻地点:四川省米易县普威林场后山。
