Leaves coriaceous, ovate-elliptic, 4. 6 cm long, 1.5-2. 5 cm wide, apices acuminate or caudate with a ca. 1 cm long cauda, bases broadlycuneate or slightly rounded; dark olive brown above in the dry state, slightly shiny, midveins puberulent; yellowish-brown below, glabrous; lateral veins 6-7 pairs, margins densely serrulate; petioles 3-5 mm long, pubescent. Flowers terminal, 2. 5 cmin diameter, pedicels extremely short; bracts 6, semi-orbicular to orbicular, 2-3. 5 mmlong apices rounded, back sericeous; sepals 5, basally slightly connate, broadly ovate, 7-8 mm long, apices rounded, back densely sericeous; petals7, basally connate for ca. 5mm, outer 2 obovate, middle of the back relatively thick, sericeous, margins mem-branous and glabrous, 1.2 cm long, 8-9 mm wide; inner 5 petals obovate, 1. 8-2 cm long, apices rounded, middle of the backslightlysericeous; stamens1.4 cm long, except for theouter connate filaments the others are free, filaments glabrous; ovaries glabrous; styles 3-4-parted, completely free, 1 cm long, stigmas slightly expanded. Flowers are white,2.5-3.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tip of the shoot and in leaf axils. Perules 8-11, silver-grayish villous. Petals 7, 1.2-2.5 cm long, 0.8-1.0 cm wide, obovate, rounded at the tip, fused about 5 mm from the base. Androecium glabrous, 1.4-1.5 cm long, filaments fused at the base. Gynoecium 1.2-1.5 cm long, 3-4 styles, free, not fused at the base, ovary glabrous. Blooming season: autumn to early winter. Capsules globose, impressed on top, 1.5-2.0 cm in diameter, 3 or 4 locules, surface tuberculate. Seeds yellowish-pubescent. Leaves elliptic or long ovate, tip acuminate or caudate, base broadly cuneate to rounded, 4.0-6.0 cm long, 2.0-3.0 cm wide, densely and thinly serrulate, upper midrib pubescent, lower surface glabrous, midrib slightly raised. Petioles 6-8 mm long, pubescent. Austro-Sin.)；雪峰山，李泽棠1101，2996；邵阳专区，洞口，1959年6月24日， 谭沛祥63057；雪峰山，肖家庚、祁承经3329。 湖北：利川，毛坝，王家坪，灌木1.5米，戴伦膺、钱重海752。四川：南川，金佛山，李国风63590。【形态特征】灌木，嫩枝有暗褐色长粗毛。叶革质，卵状椭圆形，长4-6厘米，宽1.5-2.5厘米，先端渐尖或尾状渐尖，尾长约1厘米，基部阔楔形或略圆，上面干后深橄榄 褐色，略有光泽，中脉有短毛，下面黄褐色，无毛，侧脉6-7对，边缘密生细锯 齿。叶柄长3-5毫米，有柔毛。花顶生，长2.2-2.S厘米，花梗极短，苞片6片，半圆形至圆形，长2-3.5毫米，先端圆，背面有绢毛，萼片5片，基部略相连生，阔卵形，长7-8毫米，先端圆，背面密生绢毛。花瓣7片，基部连合约长5毫米，最外2片倒卵形，背面中部较厚，有绢毛，边缘薄且秃净，长1.2厘米，宽8-9毫米，内侧5片倒卵形，长1.8-2厘米，先端圆，背面中部略有绢毛。雄蕊长1.4厘米，除与花丝连生外，其余部份分离，花丝无毛。子房无毛，花柱4条，完全分离，长1厘米，柱头稍膨大；蒴果未成熟，有瘤状突起。

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第278页。花白色，花径2.5~3.0厘米，花顶生或腋生。鳞片8~11枚,被银灰色长毛。花瓣7枚，长1.2~2.5厘米，宽约0.8~1.0厘米，倒卵形，先端圆，基部连生约5毫米。雄蕊无毛，长1.4~1.5厘米，花丝基部连生。雌蕊长1.2~1.5厘米，花柱3~4条，基部离生，子房无毛。花期秋季至冬初。蒴果球形，顶端凹陷，直径1.5~2.0厘米，3室或4室，表面具瘤状凸起。种子被黄色柔毛。叶椭圆形或长卵形，先端渐尖或尾尖，基部阔楔形至近圆形，长4.0~6.0厘米，宽2.0~3.0厘米，叶齿细密，叶面中脉有短柔毛，叶背无毛，中脉略凸起。叶柄长6~8毫米，被短柔毛。灌木，高可达3米，嫩枝被柔毛，老枝灰褐色。分布：湖南省的西南部、贵州省的东北部、湖北省的西南部和重庆市 的东南部，海拔500-1200米。可寻地点:湖北省利川市毛坝镇王家坪。
