Gao Jiyin, Clifford R. Parks, Du Yueqiang, 2005, Collected Species of the Genus Camellia an Illustrated Outline，p.63. Flowers are red, 5.5-7.5 cm in diameter, borne at the tip of twigs. Perules 8-9, outside yellowish-silky-villous. Petals 6-7, 2.5-4.0 cm long, obovate, tips yellowish-pubescent. Androecium pubescent, 2.0-2.5 cm long, outer layer of stamens fused from the base into a tube 10 mm long. Gynoecium 3.5-4.0 cm long, 3 styles slightly divided at the tip, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: late winter to early spring. Capsules globose, 5.0-8.0 cm in diameter, 3 locules, 2-3 seed per locule, pericarp wall soft, 1.0-1.2 cm in thickness. Leaves oblong, tip acuminate, base cuneate, 8.0-10.0 cm long,2.5-3.5 cm wide, margin densely and sharply serrulate, upper surface smooth, lower surface with lateral veins slightly raised. Petiole 7-10 mm long. Shrub or small tree up to 4 m tall, young shoots glabrous, older branches smooth, gray-brown in color. Distribution: Mountains of Yanbian County, southern Sichuan Province; Elevation: 800-1,100 m; Specific locality: Dahuoshan Huofang Village, Guosheng Township, Yanbian County, Sichuan Province, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第63页。花红色，花径5.5~7.5厘米，单花顶生。鱗片8~9枚，外被黄丝毛。花瓣6~7枚，长2.5~4厘米，倒卵形，先端被灰白色茸毛。雄蕊被短柔毛，长2.0-2.5厘米，外轮花丝基部连生形成10毫米长短管。雌蕊长3.5~4.0厘米，花柱先端3裂，子房被绒毛。花期冬末至春初。蒴果球形，直径5.0~8.0厘米，3室，每室2~3粒种子，果皮软，厚1.0~1.2厘米。叶长圆形，先端渐尖，基部楔形，长8.0~10.0厘米，宽2.5~3.5毫米，边缘具细密尖齿，叶面光滑，叶背侧脉略凸起。叶柄长7~10毫米。灌木或小乔木，高可达4米，嫩枝无毛，老枝光滑，灰褐色。分布：四川省南部盐边县一带的山区，海拔800-1100米。可寻地点:四川省盐边县国胜乡大火山火房。
