Sin. 17 (4):95. 1979.  [Description] Shrub 1-3 m tall; branchlets brown hirsute, old branches gray, with exfoliatingstringy bark. Leaves coriaceous, elliptic or ovate-oblong, 2-5.5 cm long, 1.5-2. 5 cm wide, apices subacute or slightly obtuse; bases auriculate, auricles 3-5 mm long; dark brownabove in the dry state, not shiny, base of the midvein pubescent; brown below, midveinpilose; lateral veins 7-8, sunken above, slightly protruding below; margins sparselyserrate, teeth separation 2.5-3.5 mm; petioles extremely short. Flowers 1-2 terminal oraxillary, pedicels extremely short; perules 7-8, outer perules 1.5-2 cm long, semi-orbicular or broadly ovate, glabrous; inner perules broadly ovate or ovoid, 3.5-4 mmlong glabrous, bases nearly free, persistent; petals 5-7, obovate, 1.9-2.2 cm long, nearlyfree, apices emarginate, glabrous, white; stamens 8-10 mm long, outer filament whorlbasally connate for 2 mm, glabrous; inner whorls completely free; anthers basifixed, yellow; ovaries pubescent, 3-locular; styles 3-parted, 1-1.3 mm long, completely free. Capsules globose, 7-12 mm in diameter，1-locular, 1 seeded, usually indehiscent, pericarp thin, surface puberulent. A number of characters of this species differ from what is normal for this sectionincluding the anthers basifixed, seeds pubescent and leaf bases auriculate.

Flowers are white, 2.0-2.5 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots and in leaf axils. Perules 7-9, persistent, glabrous. Petals 5-7, 1.2-2.0 cm long, 0.7-1.2 cm wide, obovate, tip notched, slightly fused at the base with the staminal column. Androecium glabrous, 8-12 mm long, outer filaments fused from the base into a column about 2 mm long. Gynoecium 7-10 mm long, 3 styles, fused 1/3 from the base, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: late autumn to early winter. Capsules oblate, 7-10 mm in diameter, glabrous, 1-3 locules, pericarp wall thin. Seeds tomentose. Leaves ovate or oblong in shape, tip obtuse, base auriculate and amplexicaul, 2.0-5.5 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, sparsely serrulate, teeth 2-4 mm apart, thinly coriaceous, upper surface with veins slightly impressed, midrib villous, lower surface with veins raised, midrib villous. Petioles 1 -2 mm long, pubescent. Shrub up to 3 m tall, young shoots brownish, hirsute, older twigs dark-brown in color. Distribution: Northwestern Guangxi and northern Guangdong Province; Elevation: 100-600 m; Specific locality: Shibixia Village, Wanchishan, Renhua County, Guangdong Province, China.

Sunyatsen)；昭平，大恼山林场，1958年11月，李荫昆402349，402425。【形态特征】灌木，高1-3米，嫩枝有褐色长粗毛，老枝灰色，表皮薄条状剥落。叶革质，椭圆形或卵状长圆形，长3-5厘米，宽1.5-2.5厘米，先端略尖或稍钝，基部耳形，耳长3-5毫米，上面干后暗褐色，不发亮，中脉基部有短粗毛，下面褐色，中脉有长丝毛，侧脉7-8对，在上面陷下，在下面略突起，边缘有疏锯齿，齿刻相隔2.5-3.5毫米，叶柄极短。花1-2朵顶生，或腋生，花梗极短；苞被9片，外侧数片长1.5-2毫米，半圆形或阔卵形，无毛，内侧数片阔卵形或卵圆形，长3.5-4毫米，无毛，基部近离生，宿存。

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第128页。花白色，花径2.0~2.5厘米，顶生或腋生。鱗片7~9枚，宿存，无毛。花瓣5~7枚，长1.2~2.0厘米，宽0.7~1.2厘米，倒卵形，先端凹，基部与雄蕊柱略连生。雄蕊无毛，长8~12毫米，外轮花丝连生约2毫米。雌蕊长7~10毫米，花柱3条，基部连生1/3,子房被绒毛。花期秋末至冬初。蒴果扁圆形，直径7~10毫米，无毛，1~3室，果皮薄。种子被绒毛。叶卵形或长圆形，先端钝，基部耳状抱茎，长2.0~5.5厘米，宽1.5~2.5厘米，边缘具稀疏叶齿，齿距2~4毫米，薄革质，叶面豚略凹陷，中脉被长毛，叶背叶脉凸起，中脉被长柔毛。叶柄长1~2毫米，被柔毛。灌木，高可达3米，嫩枝有褐色长硬毛，老枝暗褐色。分布:广西壮族自治区东北部和广东省的北部，海 拔100-600米。可寻地点:广东省仁化县万池山石壁下村。
