Flowers are deep pink with a hint of purple pink, 3-5 cm in diameter, mostly borne in leaf axils. Pedicels1.0 cm in length, glabrous. Bracts 5. Sepels 5, persistent, dark green to purple. Petals 5, 2.0 cm long, 2.0 cm wide, suborbicular. Androecium partially glabrous, 1.0-1.5 cm long. Gynoecium glabrous,2.0-2.5 cm in length, style 3-5, free at the base. Bloom season: spring. Capsule flattened-globose, 2.5 cm high, 4.0 cm in diameter, purple brown, 3-5 locules. Leaves oblong to elliptic in shape, tip cuspidate, base obtuse to rounded, 50.0-60.0 cm long, 15.0 cm wide, margin entire, upper surface with lateral veins sunken, glabrous, lower surface lateral veins raised, glabrous. Petioles 2.0 cm long, purple coloured on upper side. A small tree up to 8 m in height, young shoots, glabrous, gray-brown, older branches longitudinally wrinkled, gray-brown in color. Distribution: Headwaters of the Dong Nai River on the Da Lat Plateau in Bien Hoa Province in southern Viet Nam.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第198-199页。花深粉红色，带明显紫粉红色，花径3.0~5.0厘米，多腋生。花柄长1.0厘米，无毛。苞片5枚，萼片5枚，宿存，深绿色至紫色。花瓣5枚，长2.0厘米，宽 2.0厘米，近圆形。雄蕊局部无毛，长5厘米。雌蕊无毛，长2.0~2.5厘米，花柱3~5条，基部离生，子房被柔毛。花期春季。蒴果扁球形，紫褐色，高2.5厘米，直径4.0厘米，紫褐色，3~5室。叶长圆形至椭圆形，先端硬尖，基部钝至圆形，长50~60厘米，宽15.0厘米，边缘全缘，叶面侧脉凹陷，无毛，叶背侧脉凸起，无毛。叶柄长2.0厘米，上部紫色。小乔木，高可达8米，嫩枝无毛，灰褐色，老枝纵向起皱，灰褐色。分布：越南南部边和省。可寻地点:越南边和省Da Lat 高原同耐河源头。
