Camellia scabrosa Orel & Curry. First published in Long-term Study and Tax. Rev. Camellia amplexicaulis: 82 (2017). TYPE: Vietnam. Vinh Phuc Province; cultivated specimen, 10. 7. 2015, G. Orel & A. S. Curry TD 69 (holotype, QBG).

A field cultivated specimen 5.0-6.0 m in height; trunk single, upright habit; secondary veins 15-17 (-19); leaf apex acute to shortly cuspidate; leaf base amplexicaul; petiole relatively short, stout, slightly falcate, of variable length; peduncle 0.8-1.0 cm long; mature flowers solitary and in groups of 5 to 6 flowers, mostly terminal, light pink with white petal margins; perianth parts 13; filaments mid to dark yellow, laterally compressed, glabrous, outer filaments proximally joined, inner filaments free to the base; styles 3, glabrous, light yellow, free to the base; mature fruit laterally compressed, barrel like, 7.0-8.0 cm diam., scabrous; sutures 4; internal chambers 4; seed 2 (-3) seeds per locule.

田间栽培采集的标本，高5.0-6.0米；树干单一，直立；次脉15-17（-19）；叶先端锐尖至短骤尖；叶基部抱茎；叶柄相对较短，粗壮，稍镰刀形，长短不一；花序梗长0.8-1. 0 厘米长；成熟花单生或 5-6 朵成群，多数顶生，浅粉色，花瓣边缘白色；花被 13 部分；花丝中到深黄色，侧面压扁，无毛，外花丝下部连接，内花丝离生至基部；花柱 3，无毛，浅黄色，离生至基部；成熟果实侧面压扁，桶状，直径 7.0-8.0 厘米、 成熟果侧面扁平，桶状，直径 7.0-8.0 厘米，粗糙；缝合线 4；内室 4；种子每室 2（-3）粒。
