Evergreen small trees or shrubs, about 2-5 m tall, bark grayish brown, branchlets slender, purplish, glabrous. Leaves simple, alternate, elliptic-oblong to elliptic, about 6.5-10 x 2.5-4 cm across, base obtuse, margins serrulate, apex acuminate, coriaceous, membranous, shining, green glabrous above except the midrib above, midrib impressed above and prominent beneath, lateral veins faint on either side of the midrib, petiole pubescent, about 5-8 mm long, exstipulate. Inflorescence axillary or terminal, solitary. Flowers bisexual, white, pedicel slender, about 1-1.5 mm long, sepals 5, imbricate, unequal, lunate-orbicular, base connate, adpressed hairy inside, densely pubescent outside towards the apex, about 1-6 x 1-5 mm across, petals 6, imbricate, white, oblong, inner pair about 12 x 16 mm across, outer 4, about 7-8 x 5-6 mm across stamens numerous, outer ones fleshy connate till middle, to form a fleshy cup, about 1 cm long, anthers dorsifixed, 2 loculed, ovary superior, globose, 1 locular, hairy, about 2-2.5 mm long, axile placentation, styles 3, free about 1-1.5 mm long, stigma simple. Fruit capsule, not seen.

Note: Due to similarities in spelling the species names is sometimes confused with Camellia sinensis.

Camellia siangensis is endemic to Siang, Arunachal Pradesh, India. Kundu (2005) also states this species is found in the Western Ghats in India however no specimens from this area have been recorded and so its origin and presence here are uncertain.

Camellia siangensis has most recently been assessed for The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2015. Camellia siangensis is listed as Data Deficient.

常绿小乔木或灌木,高约2-5米,树皮灰褐色,小枝纤细,略带紫色,无毛。单叶互生,椭圆状长圆形至椭圆形,长约6.5-10厘米,宽约2.5-4厘米,基部钝,边缘有细锯齿,先端渐尖,革质,膜质,有光泽,上面除中脉外绿色无毛,中脉上面凹陷,下面突出,侧脉在中脉两侧隐隐约约,叶柄被短柔毛,长约5-8毫米,无托叶。花序腋生或顶生,单生。花两性,白色,花梗细长,长约1-1.5毫米;萼片5,覆瓦状排列,不等长,新月形圆形,基部合生,里面有贴生毛,外面向顶端密被短柔毛,长约1-6毫米,宽约1-5毫米;花瓣6,覆瓦状排列,白色,长圆形,内瓣一对,长约12毫米,宽约16毫米,外瓣4,长约7-8毫米,宽约5-6毫米;雄蕊多数,外瓣肉质,合生至中部,形成肉质杯状,长约1厘米;花药背着,2室;子房上位,球形,1室,有毛,长约2-2.5毫米,中轴胎座;花柱3,离生,长约1-1.5毫米;柱头单。蒴果,未见。

锡安山茶(Camellia siangensis)是印度阿鲁纳恰尔邦锡安县的特有物种。Kundu(2005)也指出该物种在印度西高止山脉有发现,但该地区尚未记录到任何标本,因此其起源和分布尚不确定。

锡安山茶最近一次于 2015年进行了IUCN濒危等级评估,被评为数据缺乏 Data Deficient(DD)。
