Shrubs or small trees, 2-5 m tall, shoots glabrous, spotted. Leaves thickly leathery, ovate-elliptic, 4-6.5 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm wide, apex sharply acute, base subrounded, unequal; both upper and lower surfaces drying dark green, shiny, lateral veins ca. 5-6 pairs, conspicuous on both upper and lower surfaces, margins sharply serrulate, petiole 6-8 mm long. Flowers white, solitary in leaf axils near branch apex, sessile; bracts and sepals 8-9, leathery, innermost segments broadly obovate, 1.4 cm long, slightly connate at base, petal stamens ca. 2 cm long, connate at base, filament tubes 5-7 mm long, glabrous along with free filaments; ovary 3-locular, velutinous; styles 1.8 cm long, apex 3-lobed. Capsule globose, 2.5-3.5 cm in diam., 3 valves dehiscent, fruit valves 6-8 mm thick; seeds 1-2 per locule. Fl. December.

The type was collected from open forests in the ravines of Mount Lubun, Xichang, Sichuan, at 2100 m above sea level.

灌木或小乔木，高2-5米，嫩枝无毛，有斑点。叶厚革质，卵状椭圆形，长4-6.5厘米，宽2.5-3.5厘米，先端急锐尖，基部近圆形，不等侧；上下两面干后均深绿色，发亮，侧脉约5-6对，在上下两面均明显，边缘有锐利细锯齿，叶柄长6-8毫米。花白色，单生于近枝顶的叶腋，无柄；苞片及萼片8-9片，革质，最内侧数片阔倒卵形，长1.4厘米，基部略连生，花瓣雄蕊长约2厘米，基部连生，花丝管长5-7毫米，与游离花丝均无毛；子房3室，被茸毛；花柱长1.8厘米，先端3裂。蒴果球形，直径2.5-3.5厘米，3爿裂开，果爿厚6-8毫米；种子每室1-2粒。花期12月。

模式标本采自四川西昌螺髻山的山沟疏林中，海拔2100米。
