Camellia tienii Ninh. Gen. Camellia Polyspora Vietnam: 41 (2023).

The specimen was first discovered by Tran Ninh in 2007 in Tam Dao National Park (Vinh Phuc). In 2009, Tran Ninh and N. Hakoda published in the book Camellia species of Tam Dao National Park with the scientific name Camellia tienii Ninh Tr. The species name is named after Mr. Do Dinh Tien, former director of Tam Dao National Park.

Small tree, 2,5 m high; young branches glabrous. Leaves stalked; petioles 9-18 mm long, glabrous; blades thick coriaceous, oblong or elliptic, 19-26 cm long, 7.2-11.3 cm wide, glabrous on both sides; base auriculate with some teeth; apex acute; margins sharply serrulate; lateral vein 13-14 pairs. Flowers yellow, axillary; pedicels about 9 mm long; bracteoles 5, margins pubescent; sepals 5, pubescent; petal 14-15; androecium numerous, 3-3.5 cm long, glabrous; gynoecium glabrous, ovary 4-5, glabrous, styles 4-5, free to the base. Fruits globose, surface tuberculate. Blooming season: Winter to Spring. Distribution: Tam Dao National Park, Vinh Phuc Province. Endemic species to Vietnam.

该标本由 Tran Ninh 于 2007 年在越南永福省三岛国家公园首次发现。2009 年，Tran Ninh 和 N. Hakoda 在《三岛国家公园的山茶和大头茶》一书中发表了该物种的学名 Camellia tienii Ninh Tr。该物种名称是以三岛国家公园前主任杜定天（Do Dinh Tien） 先生的名字命名的。

小乔木，高2.5米；幼枝无毛。叶具柄；叶柄长9-18毫米，无毛；叶片厚而革质，长圆形或椭圆形，长19-26厘米，宽7.2-11.3厘米，双面无毛；基部耳状，有些齿；顶端尖锐；边缘锐齿状；侧脉13-14对。花黄色，腋生；花梗约9毫米长；小苞片5个，边缘有毛；萼片5个，有毛；花瓣14-15个；雄蕊数量众多，长3-3.5厘米，无毛；雌蕊无毛，子房4-5个，无毛，柱头4-5个，离生。果实球形，表面有小疙瘩。开花季节：冬季至春季。分布：越南永福省三岛国家公园。越南特有种。

注：南宁市金花茶公园2021《国内外金花茶物种图鉴》第116-117页所记载的"黄抱茎金花茶Camellia murauchii Ninh et Hakoda"，其记载的叶片比模式的“村内山茶”小太多了。根据描述和图片，中国国内栽培的“黄抱茎金花茶”的学名应为Camellia tienii Ninh， 而不是Camellia murauchii Ninh & Hakoda。
