Leaves thinly coriaceous or nearlymembranous, elliptic 5-7 cm long, 2.5-3. 5 cm wide, apices acute, bases broadly cuneate; green above, not shiny; dark-punctate below, glabrous; lateral veins 4-5, upper half ofmargins sharply serrate, petioles 8-15 mm long. Flowers golden-yellow, axillary; pedicels 9-13 mm long; bracts 6-7, slender and small; sepals 5, suborbicular, 4-5 mmliong, glabrous; petals 8-9, basally connate for 2-4 mm, 1.5-2 cm long; stamens in 4-5series, outer whorl basally connate for 5-6 mm; ovaries glabrous, 3-locular; styles 3-parted, free, 1.5-1. 8 cm long. Capsules globose, 2 cm in diameter, 1-locular, pericarp extremely thin, 2 seeded. This species has the smallest leaves within the section, 5-7 cm long and 2.5-3. 5 cmwide, thinly coriaceous. The flowers are also relatively small.

Flowers are yellow, 2.5-4.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of twigs and in leaf axils. Pedicels 7-13 mm long. Bracts 6-7, tiny. Sepals 5, outer surfaces pubescent, slightly persistent. Petals 8-9, 1.0-2.0 cm long, 0.7-1.0 cm wide, obovate, glabrous, rounded at the tip, united 2-4 mm at the base. Androecium glabrous, 1.5-2.0 cm long, outer layer of filaments fused from the base into a column 2-5 mm long. Gynoecium 1.4-1.8 cm long, 3 styles, free, not fused at the base, ovary glabrous. Blooming season: spring. Capsule globose, 1.8-2.0 cm in diameter, 1-3 locules, pericarp wall 1-2 mm thick. Leaves elliptic, tip acuminate or acute, base broadly cuneate, 5.0-9.0 cm long, 3.0-4.0 cm wide, bluntly serrulate only on upper part of the margin, thinly coriaceous, upper surface nearly smooth, glabrous, lower surface with midribs and lateral veins slightly raised, glabrous, cork-warts. Petioles 8-15 mm long, glabrous. Shrub up to 2 m tall, young shoots glabrous, very thin, older branches glabrous, gray-brown in color. Distribution: Ravines or stream sides in the area from Fangcheng City to Dongxing City, Guangxi, China; Elevation: 150-300 m; Specific locality: The vil-lages of Shangyue and Pingmu, Nasuo Township, Fangcheng County, Guangxi, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第125页。花黄色，花径2.5~4.0厘米，顶生或腋生。花柄长7~13毫米。苞片6~7枚，萼片5枚，背面被短柔毛，略宿存。花瓣8~9枚，长1.0~2.0厘米，宽0.7~1.0厘米，倒卵形，无毛，先端圆，基部连生2~4毫米。雄蕊无毛，长1.5~2.0厘米，外轮花丝基部连生2~5毫米。雌蕊长1.4~1.8厘米，花柱3条，基部离生，子房无毛。花期春季。蒴果球形，直径1.8~2.0厘米，1~3室，果皮厚1~2毫米。叶椭圆形，先端渐尖或急尖，基部阔楔形，长5.0~9.0厘米，宽3.0~4.0厘米，边缘上半部有純齿，薄革质，叶面近光滑，无毛，叶背中脉与侧脉略凸起，无毛，有腺点。叶柄长8~15毫米，无毛。灌木，高可达2米，嫩枝无毛，较细，老枝无毛，灰褐色。分布：广西壮族自治区南部的防城县至东兴市一带(通常在沟谷或溪边生长）,海拔150-300米。可寻地点:广西壮族自治区防城县那梭上岳村和平木村。

东兴金花茶Camellia tunghinensis H .T.Chang南宁市金花茶公园，2021.《国内外金花茶物种图鉴》，广西科学技术出版社，第94-95页。【形态特征】常绿濯木至小乔木，高2.0-5.0m。树皮浅棕色。嫩枝圆柱形，黄棕色或棕绿色，无毛；老枝竭色：嫩叶深紫棕色或棕绿色。老叶薄革质，椭圆形至卵形，长6.4-9.4cm，宽3.0-4.5cm，叶缘有浅钝锯齿，先端渐尖，基部宽楔形至圆形，正面深绿色，背面浅绿色有黑色腺点；侧脉3-4对；网脉不明显；叶柄长0.9-1.2cm，无毛。花蕾球形。花淡黄色，单生或2-3朵簇生，顶生或腋生，直径3.8-4.8cm；花梗长0.8-1.3cm，无毛；苞片4-6枚，半圆形；萼片5-6枚，淡绿色，长卵形，宿存；花瓣8-11枚，椭圆形；花丝长1.8-2.1cm，4-5轮筒状排列，外轮基部合生，内轮基部近离生，光滑无毛；花药黄色，椭圆形；花柱3-4条，长1.9-2.3cm，无毛，离生；子房近球形，光滑无毛，3-4室。蒴果三角状扁球形，绿色带深棕色，直径3.3-4.6cm，高2.2-2.7cm，重10.5-33.0g，果皮厚1.4-2.2mm。种子每室1-3粒，球形、半球形或三角状球形，棕色，被短茸毛。花期2-4月，果熟期12月至翌年1月。【原产地】该种是中国的一个特有种，分布于广西防城港、东兴，生长在海拔180-650m的常绿阔叶林中。【识别要点】该种叶片较小且较薄，叶柄较长；花淡黄色，花梗较长，花期2-4月。
