Leaves coriaceous, oblong, 4-6 cm long, 1. 6-2 cm wide, apices obtuse or slightly acute, bases broadly cuneate; both surfaces shiny in the drystate, glabrous; lateral veins 6-7 pairs, sunken in the dry state; margins denselyserrulate, petioles 4-6 mm long. Flowers 1-2 terminal, sessile, pink or white; bracts andsepals 6-7 , coriaceous, glabrous, or ciliate, to 1. 5 cm long; petals 6-8, unequal, obovate, 1.5-3 cm long, glabrous, basally connate for 7 mm; stamens in 2-3 series, 6-9 mm long, lower half connate, glabrous; ovaries sericeous; styles 6-8 mm long glabrous, apically3-cleft. Capsules tricoccus-oblate, 2.5-3 cm wide, 1.5-2 cm high, 3-locular, pericarp 3mm thick.

Flowers are white, pink or even red,5.0-7.0 cm in diameter, borne at the tips of shoots, and in leaf axils. Perules 6-7, glabrous. Petals 6-8, 1.5-3.0 cm long, 1.4-1.9 cm wide, obovate to obovate-oblong, cleft at the tip 7-11 mm, both sides glabrous, fused 3 mm from the base. Androecium glabrous, 5-10 mm long,filaments fused 3 mm from the base into a cup. Gynoecium 5-8 mm long, 3-5 glabrous styles, ovary tomentose. Bloomng season: late autumn to winter. Capsules globose to flat globose in shape, 1.2-2.5 cm long, 1.0-3.2 cm in diameter, red or yellow in color, glabrous, 3-5 locules, pericarp wall 2.0 mm thick. Seed oil content ranges from 24%-30%.Leaves oblong to elliptic in shape, tip acuminate, base cuneate, 2.5-6.0 cm long, 1.3-2.0 cm wide, margin finely and densely serrulate, both sides glabrous, midrib raised. Petioles 3-4 mm long, upper side sparsely puberulent. Shrub or small tree up to 5 m tall, twigs glabrous, bark smooth, dark brown in color. Kweichow。【形态特征】灌木，嫩枝无毛。叶革质，长圆形，长4-6厘米，宽1.6-2厘米，先端钝或略尖，基部阔楔形，两面干后发亮，无毛，侧脉6-7对，干后下陷，边缘密生细锯 齿，叶柄长4-6毫米，花1-2朵，顶生，无柄，淡红色或白色，荀及萼6-7片，革质，无毛，或有隨毛，最长1.5厘米；花瓣6-8片，大小不等，倒卵形，长1.5-3厘米，无毛，基部合生达7毫米；雄蕊2-3轮，长6-9毫米，下半部连生，无毛；子房被绢毛，花柱长6-8毫米，无毛，先端3裂。蒴果三角扁球形，宽2.5-3厘，高1.5-2厘米，3室，果皮厚3毫米。
