[Description] This species is close to C. cordifolia only the leaves are smaller, 4-6 cm long, flowerssessile; filament tube short, less than 2/3 the stamen length.

Pedicels very short, nearly sessile. Bracts 4-5, pubescent. Sepals 5, outer surface villous, margin ciliate. Petals 5, 7-10 mm long and 5-8 mm wide, rounded to oblong-elliptic in shape, pubescent on the back, united at the base with the androecium. Androecium villous, 1.0-1.1 cm long, outermost stamens fused from the base into a tube 6-7 mm long. Gynoecium densely villous, 1.3 cm long, 3 styles, slightly divided at the tip, ovary tomentose. Blooming season: spring. Capsule globose, 8-13 mm in diameter, 1 locule, pericarp wall 1 mm thick. Leaves oblong to oblong-ovate, tip acuminate, base rounded, 4.0-6.0 cm long, 1.0-2.5 cm wide, margin serrulate, thinly coriaceous, upper surface smooth, midrib puberulent, lower surface smooth, midrib villous. Petioles 2-5 mm long, densely villous. Shrub or small tree up to 7 m tall, young shoots densely villous, older branches gray. Distribution: Southeastern Yunnan Province to southwestern Guizhou Province; Elevation: 500-1,000 m; Specific locality: Wenshan Forest Farm, Wenshan County, Yunnan Province, China.

高继银、帕克斯、杜跃强，2005. 《山茶属植物主要原种彩色图集》浙江科学技术出版社，第141页。花白色，直径1.0~1.6厘米，多腋生。花柄极短，近无柄。苞片4~5枚，被柔毛，萼片5枚，外面被长丝毛，边缘具睫毛。花瓣5枚，长7~10毫米，宽5~8毫米，近圆形至长椭圆形，外面有短丝毛，基部与雄蕊连生。雄蕊被长柔毛，长1.0~1.1厘米，外轮花丝基部连生形成6~7毫米长的短管。雌蕊密被长柔毛，长约1.3厘米，花柱先端3裂，子房被绒毛。花期春季。蒴果圆球形，直径8~13毫米，1室，果皮厚1毫米。叶长圆形至长卵形，先端渐尖，基部圆形，长4.0~6.0厘米，宽1.0~2.5厘米，边缘具细齿，薄革质，叶面光滑，中脉被微毛，叶背光滑，中脉被长柔毛。叶柄长2~5毫米，密被长柔毛。灌木或小乔木，高可达7米，嫩枝密被长柔毛，老枝灰色。分布：云南省东南部至贵州省的西南部，海拔500-1000米。可寻地点:云南省文山县林场。
