Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.176, colour photo, p.177, description: Medium size, dark red, tulip-shaped single with 5 thick, pointed petals. Stamens cylindrical, filaments reddish, joined for the lower third with yellow anthers. Blooms mid-season. Leaves mid-green, narrow-elliptic, apices long-acuminate, margins shallowly crenate. Selected from wild japonicas, named and released by Nobuo Sasai in 1980. From Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
