Encyclopedia of Camellias in Colour, vol.I, 1972, pl.574, p.221, description p.395: Early blooming, medium size single, red, 7-8 cm across, of 5-6 petals with 70-­85 stamens. Originated in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Selected and named by Yawazaki, Sadat­suga. Same characters as the C.japonica cultivar. see JCS., 1987, Tsubaki, No.26, p.43.
