Yokoyama, 1975, Gendai Tsubaki Meikan, p.178, illustration and description: Medium red, single, 5-6 petals opening wide, cup-shaped edges usually some­what emarginate. Yellow stamens widely spread. Leaves, light green, broad-ovate to broad-­elliptic; blunt acuminate, depressed venation, serrulate. Typical wild rusticana form.
