Billy Hardwicke (C. reticulata) ACS, Reg. No.2372. American Camellia Yearbook, 1996, p1. with color photo in color inset 1. A very large, flame red, semidouble, C. reticulata (Homeyer #158 x 'Tali Queen'), mid-season to late. Originated by Marvin Jernigan, Warner Robins, GA and propagated by Dean's Nursety, Lucedale, MS. The 15-Ye'M old seedling first bloomed in 1987. Average size flower is 6 1/2" wide and 4 1/2" deep with 22 petals, white anthers, and white filaments. Petals have ruffled edge. Plant growth is upright and vigorous with leaves measuring 5 3/4" long and 13/4" wide.
