Billy Hardwicke (C. reticulata) ACS, Reg. No.2372. American Camellia Yearbook, 1996,p1. with color photo in color inset 1. A very large, flame red,semidouble, C. reticulata (Homeyer #158 x 'Tali Queen'), mid-season tolate. Originated by Marvin Jernigan, Warner Robins, GA and propagated by Dean'sNursety, Lucedale, MS. The 15-Ye'M old seedling first bloomed in 1987. Averagesize flower is 6 1/2" wide and 4 1/2" deep with 22 petals, white anthers,and white filaments. Petals have ruffled edge. Plant growth is upright andvigorous with leaves measuring 5 3/4" long and 13/4" wide.
