赤霞Camellia oleifera 'Chixia'是2012年国家林草局授权的新品种,【品种权号】20120140,【培育人】陈永忠、王德斌,【品种权人】湖南省林业科学院。【品种特性】‘赤霞’是通过普通油茶优树资源选育获得。冠形开张,树高2.0 -3. 0 m;叶长椭圆或披针形,长4. 5-8.0cm,宽2.0-3.3cm,背面有明显散生腺点,或有脉纹;花径5.5-8.8cm,花瓣5-8 枚,白色,倒心形,长2. 8-4. 3cm,宽1. 6-3.0cm,先端凹入,柱头3-4裂至2/3 左右;果实卵圆形或橄榄形,果皮红棕或红黄色,具浅棱,果径2.7-4.1cm,果高3.3-4.4cm,鲜果出籽率45.3%,干籽含油率39.5%,种仁含油率58.6%,油质优;湖南花期10 月下旬-12 月下旬,果实成熟期10 月下旬。
