Dongyue

Dongyue. (C.nitidissima hybrid). Proceedings of the ICS Congress, Chuxiong 2012, p.169. Originated by Huang Liandong et al, Nanning Golden Camellia Park, Guangxi, China. and China Regn No.59, China Flowers & Horticulture, Aug. 2010, No.16, p.44 with colour photo; An F2 hybrid (C.nitidissima x C.sasanqua ‘Dark Red Sweet’), backcrossed to C.nitidissima. Flower rose form double, milky yellow, 6-7 cm diameter, stamen centre mostly petaloids. Juvenile leaves reddish-brown and glabrous. Mature leaves ovate or elliptic, varying greatly in size, 6-10 cm x 3-6.5 cm. Flowers mid-season.

冬月 Camellia ‘Dongyue’ 中国登录号：2010-059，《中国花卉园艺》2010年第16期44页。由黄连冬命名，广西南宁金花茶公园的黄连冬培育并登录。以金花茶为母本，以紫红香茶梅为父本，得到子一代（F1），再用金花茶的花粉进行回交得到子二代，并从中选育出该品种。叶深绿，卵形，长6-10cm，宽3~6.5cm,先端急尖，边缘锯齿细而疏。花芽淡黄色，牡丹型，淡黄色，花较小，直径约2.5cm，花瓣5~6轮排列，外面3轮花瓣较平展，内轮花瓣较小，扭曲，并稍紧密排列于中心，散生几枚淡黄色的雄蕊，单朵花可持续7~10天，花期12月~翌年2月。该品种是回归杂交育种的后代。2004年11月获得杂交种子，2009年1月第一次开花。从其特征看，有明显的杂种特征，花虽然较小，但比较整齐，淡黄色花在山茶属品种中尚稀少，卵形叶。特异性明显，可用扦插和嫁接繁殖，为较稀罕的品种。
