American Camellia Yearbook, 1982, p.171, Reg. No.1838: A very large, red, semi-double hybrid C.reticulata (‘Crimson Robe’ (Dataohong) x [‘Cornelian’ (Damanao) x C.japonica Mrs D.W. Davis back crossed to ‘Cornelian’]). Flowers early to late. Originated by Frank Pursel, Oakland, California, USA. Average flower size is 13 cm wide x 6 cm deep, with bright yellow filaments and crinkled petals like Ming Temple. Plant growth is upright and average in rate with dark green leaves, 12.5 cm long x 5.5 cm wide.
